(John 19:25-27) The saith Jesus to the disciple, behold thy mother! and from that hour that disciple took her unto his OWN home. 1) Pardon me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it custom, back in the days of Jesus, that sons and daughters considered their parent's house home until they married and built a home of their own (or took over a family home)? This is, of course, not always the case- as some went to work for the king/leader/whomever and were sometimes given a place to stay in their "masters" home. ~~ You're correct this custon is still true today in the orient and many other countries today.2) So, since John (the Baptist), Jesus and Paul were not married, they would not need a home to settle into- no place for their wife to keep, no place for children to be raised. It wasn't necessary. A home would have been a waste, since they were traveling ministers- not called for marriage AND ministry, but just the ministry. Seems logical to me. ~~~ Your logic fits perfectly according the custom in those days. Thanks, for sharing with us.
