"Precious fruit in us appearing, Makes Thy presence known"
So often during the day I react in a way that I am ashamed of. I want to show more of the fruits of the spirit. This is how others will see Christ in me.

A saying always comes to mind when someone says something about their reactions to things around them.
We glorify God in our body by our actions, We glorify God in our spirit by our Reactions.

This is just one of those hymns I always enjoy.
276,
3. Sweet to tell Him all He knoweth, Roll on Him the care, Cast upon Him All the burden, That I cannot bear; Then, without a care oppressing, Simply to Lie still, Giving thanks to Him for all things, Since it is His will.

There is no place where earths sorrows are more felt than up in heaven There is no place where earths failing's have such kindly judgement given.

I like the grace we sing:
To Thee Who doth the ravens feed And lilies clothe with beautious dress For rich supply of all our needs We raise our song of thanfulness.
Love & Peace Through Christ; Pam

There are many hymns that are indeed precious to me. This is the chorus of one that just came to mind. I love every verse as well.
'Tis better than thousands of silver and gold More precious than rubies can be To sit at the feet of my Master divine And hear when He speaketh to me.
Blessings, Linda

Has always gone through my mind, this hymn...no matter how long I've been "out" or what situation I've been in, I've found myself humming this hymn or out and out singing it....
When pained is my heart and the clouds hang low, when weary thy faltering feet...when tear dimmed thine eyes as the seed you sow, and all thou canst see is defeat...just cling to the hand of God's dear son, no matter where He leads, and mark the path 'til the journey's done, with pure and Christlike deeds.
Number 350...
(Also the entire song of "Give me a heart" ...how true, to keep our hearts tender toward God is one of the most important things, and lastly *for now..I could go on and on...I love the hymns* "In Jesus' Hands...the whole song...)

Yes... In Jesus Hands is a wonderful hymn....
Chorus: I will leave it all to Jesus, for I know he understands. Things in life I can not alter, I will leave in Jesus hands.
Wonderful when we can have that resolve... God knows and Jesus understands. We just have to be willing to do the right thing, and all else will fall into place.

"For His sake, reproach esteeming, more than earth's vain show and pomp.... Jesus calls me I am going... forth to Him outside the camp."
Just getting a little different slant on this today... Jesus was crucified 'outside the camp' - away from and rejected by the self-righteous religious people of that day. Is our suffering for Jesus sake also outside the 'camp' of self-righteous people - perhaps even within the fellowship - today? Are those who are really suffering 'outside the camp', those who have been reproached, even cast out? Perhaps one day I'll have a clearer picture of this. Just sharing where my thoughts have gone, ever since we sang this Wed. night in meeting.

These two verses of two different hymns are always encouraging to me: "Give, it shall to you be given Prove this golden rule is true. Well pressed down and running over, Thus the Lord will give to you." & "Help me Lord, to be wholehearted, Serving Thee with love and zeal, Pouring out my life like Jesus, Who did all Thy will reveal."

Recently I had to say goodbye to my dying grandmother. The words of a hymn by Sanford F. Bennett filled my thoughts that day: In the Sweet By and ByThere’s a land that is fairer than day, And by faith we can see it afar; For the Father waits over the way To prepare us a dwelling place there. Refrain: In the sweet by and by, We shall meet on that beautiful shore; In the sweet by and by, We shall meet on that beautiful shore. We shall sing on that beautiful shore The melodious songs of the blessed; And our spirits shall sorrow no more, Not a sigh for the blessing of rest. To our bountiful Father above, We will offer our tribute of praise For the glorious gift of His love And the blessings that hallow our days.

Wonderful when we can have that resolve... God knows and Jesus understands. We just have to be willing to do the right thing, and all else will fall into place. Hymn 287 has been on my favorites list for several years. The words in the first verse have helped see me through many rough times.
I once enjoyed Hymn 215, "A Tender Heart." My wife and I used to sing this together at home. I hope and pray that some day she may regain the tenderness she once had.
I can barely sing this Hymn without crying. Often I must leave the room until the Hymn is over. Kind of tough for a man who shares the leading of Hymns with his dad (the Elder) in Wednesday morning Bible Study.
Hymns 215 and 287 go together well toward our salvation. We cannot be saved if we do not leave things in Jesus hands, and we cannot leave things in Jesus hands without a tender heart. In Love and Service in Him,
Richard

I like how you put the line of thought in the 2 hymns together, Richard. I hope your wife softens in her heart, too. It's pretty difficult to observe that change. It's life altering..... I can identify with your experience.
To be honest, I have a hard time singing the part: "I want to know the pain, my neighbors often know".... I suppose that's because I think I can I can be compassionate by just 'remembering' what it was like. I'm thinking: I don't particularily want to 'know' or experience again a particular pain I believe another may be going through..... I'm OK w/ 'sharing' another's loss, weal or woe. I can be empathetic because of what I've experienced.
I feel kind of guilty, but sometimes I just don't sing the 'I want to feel the pain" part out loud. I can consider the words in my heart....., but I have trouble singing them. Maybe it's because I just don't want to have to deal w/ tears and inablilty to sing. As you expressed you do experience..... Very likely the pain is still so real you cannot help but have to deal w/ tears. Very likely your tears are cleansing and healing. That's good, too.....

Richard,
At this time it is real hard for me to sing 287 also. I have learned to let the tears flow, they help the pain. This was one of my wife's favorite hymns and we sang it at her funeral.
