Where in the gospel does it instruct ministers of Christ to follow a strict pattern of going out two by two? 1) In Luke chapter 9:10 Jesus sent the 12 disciples/apostles on their first mission to the Lost Sheep House of Israel two and two.
2) After Jesus had sent out the 12 apostles he also sent out the second group of 70/72 disciples/apostles their first mission to all the Jews in every city two and two in (Luke 10:1-3).
In Acts 1:15-26 After Judas had killed himself we read the apostles cast their lots to have this person to fill his place in the ministry and Matthias! was chosen so the number would be even= 12 again.
3) In the book of Acts 13: 1,2 we read the Holy Spirit set apart Paul and Barnabas for the work of the ministry.
4) In Acts 15: 36-40 we read there was an misunderstanding between Barnabas and Paul.... so Barnabas took John Mark his nephew and they went to Cyprus.... Paul took silas and they went to Syria, Cillicia, confirming the churches.
~~~ However, in Acts 10-11 we read how the Holy Spirit told Peter to go and preached about Jesus by himself to Cornelius, a centurian Roman officer home.
~~~ We read some times Paul went to the synagogues to preach the goodnews Jesus is the Christ to the Jews by himself.
~~~ We read the apostles sometimes go in a group of three or more...
~~~ There is no instruction where Jesus told them that they MUST go two and two EVERY time because it depends the needs and situation... There are many good reasons why the disciples/apostles go TWO and TWO.
It was part of the older experience apostle (Paul) to train a younger inexperience new comer (Timothy) on how to become preacher of the Gospel, an evangelist, a pastor, a teacher, etc.. (Acts 16:1,2)... then Timothy would pass what he has learned to the next generation and so on...
(II Timothy 2:1-3) And the things that thou has heard of me among many witnesses the same ENTRUST! thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Early church fathers writing: ~~ Papias (A.D. 60-130) John the apostle was his mentor.
~~ Polycarp (A.D. 69-156) John the apostle was also his mentor.
The Vaudois apostles (A.D. 70-1800)
The Vaudois ministers went Two and Two, as Jesus sent forth his disciples, with every young man was usually associated a man of age and experience, the youth being under the guidance of his companion, who held responsible for his training, and whose instruction he was required to heed.
The younger ministers who receive ordination to the sacred office saw before them, not the prospect of earthly wealth and glory, but a life of toil and danger, and possiblity a martyr's life.
The Vaudois apostles or ministers were trained as missionaries! everyone who expected to enter the ministry being required first to gain an experience as an Evangelist. Each to serve 3 yrs in some mission field before taking a charge of a church at home.
The Vaudois pastors NOT only preach the Gospel, but they visited the sick, admonished the erring, and labored to settle disputes and promote harmony and brotherly love.
In times of peace they were sustained by the freewill offering of their followers, but like Paul the tent maker, each learned some trade or profession by which, if "Neccessary!" to provide for his own support.
From their pastors the youth receive instruction. The Bible was made their chief study. The Gospel of Matthew, John they committed to memory, with many of the epistles of the apostles.
These co-labors went two and two, often met for prayer and counsel, thus strengthen each other faith.

I'm just glad to know of a ministry today that works when really it "shouldn't" work. It lines up with Scripture. It works. It is of God. Aided so well by His Spirit......... nancye
