Notes: Do NOT love the world or the things in the world. (I John 2:15)
An old fable tells about a crane that was wading in a stream looking for snails when a beautiful swan landed nearby. The crane had never seen a swan before, so he asked, "What are you?" " I am a Swan," came the reply. "And where did you come from?" the crane inquired. "Heaven," the swan answered. "What's that?" asked the crane.
The swan eagerly began to explain its beauty and glory. He spoke of the New Jerusalem, the city of pure gold with a jasper wall and pearly gates. He described its "Pure river of water of life, cleary as crystal."
At this point the crane interrupted. "Tell me, are there any snails in heaven?" "No! I am afraid not." the swan said, "Then I don't care! to go there." The crane stated decisively. "I Like snails!"
~~~ Can you see how some people are like that crane? They are so enamoured by earthly possessions that they failed to appreciate the Eternal riches of Christ! and all He has to offer like the Rich Young Ruler in (Mark 10), they foolishly choose the things of earth instead of the wonderful realities of heaven.
Some people never personally trusted the Lord Jesus Christ for Salvation, it may be that some sinful pleasure or their material possessions are standing in their way.
~~ Don't allow anything in life to keep you from making the Lord Jesus as your Savior. And after you have placed your faith in Him, "Set your mind on things above, NOT on things on the earth" (Col. 3:2). Compared to the glories of heaven, the best things of this world are but SNAILS!
~~~~ He is a fool who will NOT give what he Can not keep to gain what he can not LOSE.
